“Feminicide and other forms of gender violence”

Mao Zedong popularized the Chinese proverb that says “women hold up half the sky,” thus questioning the patriarchal system that has propitiated and perpetuated gender inequality. A system that still allows 60,000 women a year to die for being one.

It is perhaps not trivial that the term “feminicide” finds no equivalent in the opposite gender, perhaps it is time to question the impunity that sustains discrimination, perhaps the international community is convinced that the pandemic that invades all Violence against women.
